How do I make a portrait appointment?
To make an appointment, please call DiAnna at 334.324.9533 or email at info@diannapaulk.com
Appointments will be made for an agreed-upon time and location in the River Region. On some occasions appointments can be made in your home. For locations outside of the River Region there is a $75/hour traveling fee.
What should we expect?
If we are meeting for the first time, I like to spend a few minutes getting to know you and learning what you want from our session. If I am photographing your children, I like to talk to you while they play near us so they become accustomed to my voice.
Depending on the number of people to be photographed and the attention span of any children involved, sessions usually 30 minutes to an hour. Usually within two to three days I contact you to let you know that your gallery of images is online and tell you how to access it. You may share that information with anyone you wish. Depending on the package you ordered at the time of your booking, the ordering process proceeds from that point.
When should I have my child photographed?
Parents often ask when they should have their children photographed professionally. The Professional Photographers Association recommends the following 7 ages:
- 3, 6, 9, and 12 months (These are beautiful as 4x6 images arranged in a single frame)
- 2 years old
- 3 years old
- 4-5 years old (5 years old is the recommended age for a large, painted portrait - before they loose their baby teeth)
- 6-8 years old
- 9-12 years old
- 13-15 years old
What should we wear?
clothing recommendations for children
- Infants and toddlers: whites & pastels, casual play clothing
- Children: outfits that express their personalities
- If more than one child or family member is in the portrait the clothing should be carefully coordinated.
clothing recommendations for adults
The goal of any portrait session is to capture the client's face and personality. The following guidelines are intended to direct the viewers eyes towards the face in the finished product:
- Small turtlenecks and modest v-necks are flattering.
- Long sleeves are preferable for teens and adults.
- Women being photographed full length should wear long skirts, pants or dark stockings.
- Be mindful that your shoes may show in some of the photographs.
- For adults, medium to dark tones of brown, gray, burgundy, green or blue are pleasing and slimming.
- Avoid stripes, plaids, checks and prints. Adults should usually avoid bright and light colors.
- Most of my portraits will be taken in outdoor settings, so casual clothing will compliment these settings.
- Couples and families should choose simple clothing in the same tonal range so that no single family member stands out. The person in lighter, brighter clothing will appear more dominant and heavier in the photograph. When the clothing is similar in color the group appears to belong together.
maternity sessions
- A solid colored top made of stretchy material.
- Your husband's white shirt unbuttoned a little at the bottom.
- Stretchy pants or jeans.
- If your husband and family members are included in the photo session the clothing should be carefully coordinated.
- The best time to schedule the maternity photo session is in the last 4 weeks of pregnancy.
Is satisfaction guaranteed?
It is my desire to see my photography business grow. Therefore, it is important that I keep my clients happy with their photo sessions and with the finished products they receive. I not only want them to continue to return to me for their future photography needs, but I also want them to confidently recommend me to their friends and families. I know that consumer reports say unhappy customers tell an average of 10 other people. If I don't do everything within my power and ability to make you a satisfied client, then I lose far more than you do!
Is it necessary to sign a contract?
It is protection for you as well as for me to have the terms of the portrait or event session clearly stated in writing and signed by both parities. Therefore, an agreement is necessary. You may obtain a copy of the agreement in advance by email: info@diannapaulk.com
If you have any other questions about the appointment or what you should wear, please feel free to call ( 334.324.9533) or email (info@diannapaulk.com).
