Montgomery AL Newborn Session: The Coke Side of Life

Although I normally do not post a sneak peek until the images are uploading to the gallery, I was so excited about this capture I made an exception. A sweet couple came to the studio last week with their newborn son. I casually asked if she had blue in the nursery so I’d know what backdrops to use. They smiled at each other and said the nursery colors were red, black and white. Not hiding my surprise well I asked how they’d arrived at those colors for the nursery. They said they’d used a Coke theme. I got so excited I could hardly stand it because several months ago I’d found this little old coke crate in an antique shop and just knew it would come in handy for a newborn one day. I brought it back to the studio and it’s been stored away waiting for the right moment. I pulled out the ladder, climbed up to the top shelf and pulled down my treasure. Mom and Dad couldn’t believe it! We stuffed a red blanket in it and put it up against a black background and I am thrilled with what we were able to capture! I just had to pull out one.

Ah Just one more reason I love to do newborn sessions in the studio.

Montgomery AL Children’s Portraits: Fall Mini Sessions

Okay, I know it’s a bit early to announce fall mini sessions! I’d actually hoped to schedule these in February! But the month filled up with maternity, newborns, and seniors before I could turn around (and I am very thankful!) so decided to just go ahead and plan a fall mini session with this updated and super-fun school theme. I thought a long time about not even blogging this session until late summer/early fall, but it was just too cute to leave on the hard drive.

Many, many thanks to my sweet friend Jennifer for allowing me to have so much fun with her darling and cooperative children.

I had a great time with this adventurous and beautiful senior in downtown Montgomery recently. We’d planned for a studio session, but the day was so incredibly beautiful we photographed outdoors as long as we could. Here are a few of my favorites from the session.

Her Daddy calls her Sweet Pea … and that she is!

And what a precious time I had photographing this sweet little lady for some of my first wedding clients!

All of my wedding clients are so special to me. I become a part of their families on one of the most important days of their lives. So when they stay in touch and ask me document the birth and growth of their children I am especially honored and blessed.

Downtown Montgomery: February 4, 2012

Those of us who have been in Montgomery, AL for many years often picture this when someone says “downtown”

Yet in reality, you can also find this (granted, not usually on Feb. 4th!!)

While I deeply regretted my 9:00 appointment running a fever and my 10:00 appointment’s birth date being a little later than expected, I did enjoy walking around downtown Montgomery on a beautiful morning with friends and fellow photographers Sue Sizemore and Diana Bunch. I also enjoyed taking a beautiful senior back to some of the “found” locations later yesterday afternoon! That blog post will be coming soon!

Sanctity of Human Life Sunday

I hope many of you saw this in your bulletins last Sunday. If not, I hope it will be there this coming Sunday. It was an honor to provide the insert design for Sav-A-Life Montgomery. Many thanks to two of my clients who allowed us to use imagesof their beautiful and precious newborns in the design.

S ince 1983, Americans have observed Sanctity of Human Life Sunday as a day to observe the intrinsic value of all human life. Sanctity of Human Life Sunday is held on the Sunday in January that falls closest to the day Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton decisions were handed down by the U.S. Supreme Court on January 22, 1973. First Choice Women’s Medical Center considers this day to be a special opportunity to share life and light instead of death and darkness. At First Choice, we are committed to bringing the message of the love and life of Jesus to the parents and their unborn children.
